Wellington Fire District - New Zealand

Station 23 - Thorndon

Breathing Apparatus Seats - 231 Appliance

These seats have our Breathing Apparatus sets built into them.

Now a common practise in many brigades around the world, this feature allows the wearer to prepare themselves for a quick fire attack after arrival at the incident scene.

You will note that the firefighter simply slips the shoulder straps on and tightens them sufficiently to ensure they are not loose when the firefighter disengages from the seat.

The mask is located behind the wearer's head and this can be hung around the neck.

The set release lever is located on the bottom right of each seat. When this is activated, the wearer simply rocks forward and alights from the appliance.
