Metz Turntable Ladder Information

The Metz DL 30 turntable ladder is mounted on a Mercedes 1625 cab and chassis, and is powered by a Mercedes V8 diesel engine developing 250 horsepower.
The turntable ladder operates to a maximum rescue height of 31 metres (100 feet). The ladder is equipped with an upright cage, containing duplicate controls found on the control area at the base of the ladder.

The Chassis

The chassis carries a payload of 9000kgs with a minimum wheelbase of 4.2 metres.
The vehicle is rear wheel drive and has a power take off with interlock and neutral lock facility.
The appliance runs a 24 volt electrical system and the crew cab has the capacity to carry a crew of 4.

The Ladder Subframe and the Platform Body

The ladder subframe is rigidly mounted on the chassis, and together with the jacking system, it safely absorbs all stresses acting on the turntable ladder.
The platform body has three access points to the heavy gauge aluminium decking.

Equipment Stowage

There are 6 lockers enclosed by roller shutter doors. These contain an assortment of waterway gear, hose, specialist equipment and lines.

The Ladder Set

The ladder set consists of 4 sections. These are supported by 2 hydraulic cylinders and guided wire ropes extend and house the ladder set.
The turntable ladder can be rotated continuously, and raised between 75 degrees and -17 degrees.

The Rescue and Working Cage

The cage is designed to carry 2 persons with a total weight of 180kgs. As well as cage controls, the cage can be operated from the controls located at the base of the ladder.
