Wellington Fire District - New Zealand

Station 23 - Thorndon

Officers Seat

The Station Officer has responsibility for ensuring that the vehicle is sited appropriately at an incident.

The officer must also liaise with the fire incident controller to establish the role of the ladder at an incident.

These roles can vary between carrying out rescues of trapped or injured people, directing water onto the fire itself, protecting adjacent exposures, or (in the case of special incidents), operating as a rescue crane to assist ambulance or police services.
