Wellington Fire District - New Zealand

Station 23 - Thorndon

Nearside Pump Panel - 231 Appliance

This is a single stage Darley pump, with an attached high pressure stage.

The pump gauges are digital electronic and indicate both pressure (kPas) and flow (l/m), on the incoming and outgoing sides of the pump.

The pump has a suction inlet which enables the drafting of water up to 9 metres below the pump.

Sited above the pump is a high pressure hose reel, with another on the opposite side of the appliance.

On the right side of the pump panel can be seen a retractable lighting pole.

The panel also has pressure relief controls to ensure that sudden changes in water pressure are not transferred through to the branches or firefighters.

There are 2 delivery outlets on this panel and 2 on the other side of the appliance. The pump output is rated at 60l/s at a pressure of 700kPa.

The pump is connected to an appliance water tank containing 1470 litres of water, which will supply both high pressure hose reels for around 6-8 minutes.
